Get The Glowing Makeup Tutorial

If glowing summer makeup is about looking kissed by the sun, its winter counterpart is about creating the effect of a moonlit glow - the skin is incandescent, ethereal and fresh, rather than bronzed. No matter what the season, healthy glowing skin is always in style whether it’s the middle of winter or the heat of summer.

To give your skin a gorgeous, healthy glow, follow this simple makeup tutorial:

Step 1. Every glowing beauty look, regardless of the season, should begin with a great primer. Glowing skin is all about dew, so plump up the skin and deliver a lit-from-within glow by starting off with Smooth Affair Face Primer and Brightener. This will deliver intense moisture to the skin as well as give the complexion a luminosity that will be visible through the rest of your makeup.

Step 2. Ensure you are always wearing the perfect foundation shade. Even if you shield your skin from the sun during summer, your skin will naturally become a shade or two fairer in the cooler months. It’s worth investing in a cooler foundation for the wintertime - this way, you’re set for when your skin is at its palest, and then you can begin to mix in your summer-toned foundation as the spring sunshine sets in so you’re covered year-round. Choose a hydrating mineral foundation like the Glow Time Pro BB to ensure your skin looks juicy, glowing and hydrated even at its driest.

Step 3. Blush is essential when it comes to creating a healthy glow. When applied correctly, blush can lift the face and make you look healthy and well-rested. Use a cream blush (like our Glow Time Blush Stick) in the cooler months, as creamy consistencies mimic the texture of dewy skin rather than appearing dry and powdery. To give your face a “lift,” imagine a horizontal line extending across your face from the bottom of your nose - don’t apply any blush beneath that line, as it will create the illusion of drooping features. The result should be a healthy but subtle flush.

Use either the warmth of your fingertips or our White Fan Brush to dust our Highlighter Cream Stick over the high planes of your face (the tops of the cheekbones, brow bone and cupid’s bow), then use your finger to press in a cream highlighter wherever you’d like to build up that glow to maximum intensity. In the same vein as your foundation, it’s worth choosing a different highlighter hue for the cooler months - think cool, pearl tones.
