Over the past couple of weeks, we have had a blast entertaining some of Australia’s inspiring blogging sensations, with the launch of our latest collection – City Nights and to celebrate our 20 year milestone.

As a brand, we take pride in educating women on the importance of knowing what is in their makeup and what they are putting on their skin. We shared our expertise during our events in both Sydney and Melbourne, with more than 20 bloggers watching on as our guest makeup artist and jane iredale expert, Julia Kur, demonstrated the versatility of the brand.

Julia has worked with the brand for over 7 years and has just moved to Australia, residing in Melbourne. Her experience with jane iredale is evident in the way she effortlessly applies every product.

jane iredale State Manager, Justine Vittoria, kept our guest engaged as she shared our brand story and the skin care benefits our range offers. All the while Julia Kur brought to life some of this season’s trends through live demonstrations.

Our makeup models were transformed using the new shades from the City Nights collection, first with a soft day look that could be easily worn by a range of women and then a smouldering evening makeup, perfect for the more confident makeup wearers.

We caught up with Julia after wrapping up the events to find out some of her basic rules to live by when it comes to makeup and the reasons why she loves jane iredale products.

 Q: What are your top tips for achieving flawless makeup?

 1. Healthy skin makes all the difference – be sure to drink lots of water and follow a facial regime that sees you cleansing, toning and moisterising as often as you need. It’s impossible to achieve a beautiful makeup look if your skin doesn’t look healthy.

2. Universal rule – your foundation shouldn’t be visible! Choosing the right colour, applying it in natural light and layering foundation gives you control. Less is more, especially for everyday makeup. When in doubt, choose a foundation colour that’s slightly lighter than your skin, even if you prefer a more tanned complexion, increasing the colour is easy using a bronzer. 

3. When applying your foundation start with the cheek area and go light on the central part of the face, hairline and around the eyebrows, so you can avoid having too much foundation clinging to parts of the face with hair including the upper lip line, brows and hairline.

Q: What is it about jane iredale that you love most?

jane iredale make up is long lasting and virtually waterproof and I can attest to the quality. I love the versatility of the range and the fact that it can be used as an everyday makeup and also for on stage, TV and photo shoots.

It’s easy to create a beautiful looks for evening outings, a perfect wedding makeup, and most importantly, it’s safe enough to use after plastic surgery as a corrective camouflage makeup and is great for most skin conditions.

And what I like about using this range is that you can apply it in layers and have full control of the coverage and finished look. The products are multipurpose and can be used in so many ways because there are no harsh ingredients.

Q: Does the range cater for makeup wearers that love to be on trend?
