Runway Ready with jane iredale…
When Spring Fashion Week comes around, regardless of the country it’s in, we get to see a vast array of unique and distinctive beauty looks; and so many that we’d love to replicate with the jane iredale range.
Some looks are what we would generally consider ‘runway’ only, but there is always an abundance of gorgeous styles that are simple to achieve and can be easily incorporated into your everyday routine!
We’ve trawled the runway for flawless faces and found four looks that can be recreated by you, at home. Here are our favourite runway tricks and a simple guide to help you achieve them using your favourite jane iredale products…
Winged liner:
AKA Graphic liner. Achieving the perfect winged liner is simple with our JELLY JAR™ GEL EYELINER and Angled Liner Brush. For a classic black liner select the Black Jelly Jar pot and gently press your brush into the Jelly Jar; using the Angled Liner Brush, apply along the lash line. For a precise line try connecting short dashes right next to the lash line, then sweep the brush along the line, from the inside out, then wing out with an upward flick for a classic cat eye look. If you don’t have a steady hand and need a little help with your lines, try using scotch tape as your guide. Easy and perfect every time.
Dewy, wet look lip:
The ‘wet-look’ was all over the spring runways: we’re talking wet hair, dewy skin and wet, glossy lips – which, of course, we love! To recreate this deep shine and gloss you can’t go past our PUREGLOSS™ LIP GLOSS. With 18 luscious shades we’ve got you covered for all looks and all occasions; these multi-tasking high-shine lip shades are highly nourishing for your lips and also taste delicious with a berry fresh flavour. Use PUREGLOSS™ on its own, applying to your desired consistency and finish, or for a deeper colour and more polished look, fill in lips with one of our Lip Definers before applying PUREGLOSS™ over the top. PRO tip: add extra sheen by mixing a dash of 24Karat shimmer dust in Silver. Now we are talking serious pout shine!
Contouring:
Highlighting and contouring… the topic on every beauty blog and a technique that has been around for quite some time in professional makeup. “Highlighting and contouring is all about adding balance and symmetry to the face” says Jacqui, jane iredale Brand Manager, “With a few simple tips, anyone can maximise their best features to add definition to their bone structure. I love the effect it has on cheek bones, the illuminating finish it gives to the under eye area and the volume it gives to lips. I believe every woman wearing foundation should be incorporating this technique into their routine. It only takes a minute and the finish it gives to your complexion, is flawless.”
To highlight, use one of our lighter bases in Amazing Base Loose Powder; PurePressed Based Mineral Foundation; Quad Bronzer in Moonglow, Sunbeam or Rose Dawn. The aim is to use a shade that is two to three times lighter than your complexion and only apply the lightness to high plains of the face i.e cheek plane, brow bone, top of the nose, cupid’s bow above the upper lip line and a little on the centre of the chin, think inverted triangle.
For a natural contoured look (think shadows), start out by applying your favourite mineral base to your whole face. Next, choose a bronzer that’s slightly darker than your complexion, such as a Quad Bronzer or SO-BRONZE®, you can even use a matte eyeshadow like Taupe and sweep across the hairline, under the cheekbones and along the jaw line using the Large Shader Brush. To add depth to this subtly contoured look, sweep PUREPRESSED® BLUSH across your cheekbones towards your ears (the shade will depend on your complexion) using the Dome Brush and set with a spritz of your favourite Hydration Spray.
Flash of colour:
We often see a range of bold colour on the runway and 2015 is no different. The spring shows saw models highlighted with hints of blues and greens, both lining the top of the lid and along the waterline of the eyes. Recreate this look with our MYSTIKOL® eyeliner in Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli or Aquamarine. This double ended eyeliner and highlighter will help you achieve great definition around the eye, lining with rich colour on one end and highlighting on the other, to help create a subtle smoky finish. For precise lines, try our Jelly Jar Gel Eyeliner in Purple or Green. Or for an even bolder look, try blending in our new EYE SHERE™ LIQUID EYE SHADOW in Aqua Silk.
Recreating runway beauty looks is a great way to update your makeup look. Tone it down if you need to or change the colour story to suit your complexion, but don’t wear the same every day. Be fun, take risks and try new looks… after all its makeup… you can wipe it away. Now go create your masterpiece!
