The Magic of Lipstick. The concept of lip stain products, that chemically adjust to your skin tone, isn't a new discovery by any means. Dating back to the 1920's when a brand called 'Tangee' released their first ever 'body chemistry' adjusting makeup. As time has gone by however, brands such as jane iredale, have adapted this particular skin science, into what we now call clean beauty. Vegan-friendly and cruelty-free ingredients and products.
But, how? We call it Red 21*. Red 21 in simple terms, is dye. An ingredient included in such makeup products that wish to change colour when applied to the skin. Red 21 is reactive to pH levels, meaning once applied to your lips, (that may be more watery or hydrated), Red 21 reacts to the hydration of your lips - oh the science of skin (and yes, it's completely safe).
